Best Survival/Horror Game of 2014

Added: 05.01.2015 15:10 | 10 views | 0 comments

gamrReview's Jake Weston: "Survival Horror fans have a love/hate relationship with their favorite genre. While we are no doubt beyond the Golden Age that gave us Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Fatal Frame, and Clock Tower, a surge of recent indie releases has shown that the genre is alive and well. And yet, the genre has struggled in the mainstream AAA space, with the latest Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and Dead Space entries all finding themselves more at home in the action or shooter categories. With all of that said, 2014 was a big year for Survival Horror in gaming, with Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami returning to the genre with The Evil Within, Alien returning to its roots with Alien: Isolation, and indie games continuing to shake up the formula with titles such as The Forest, Neverending Nightmares, Among the Sleep, and This War of Mine. Its easy to say that 2014 was the best in years for Horror, yet only one of these games can take our pick."

"A lot of times the geek apparel can be a bit much from the Dragon Ball Z button down shirts to the shirts/jackets that are just plastered with Mario characters. I am more of a subtle design type of person. I love hoodies and one of my favorites is a Dead Space one. It looks as if it is a crewmen hoodie and has this nice, big Ishimura logo on the back. No one really gets it but I love it. Then comes the HEV hoodie." - Adam Dork

Why Im Actually Excited for a Dead Space Movie

Added: 27.11.2014 9:11 | 11 views | 0 comments

UM writes: Its tough to get excited for video game movies in this day and age when so many are really, really terrible. The best video game movie to date is probably the original Resident Evil as it managed to toe the line between faithful adaptation and not-terrible action movie. I can see cases being made for Silent Hill and even Prince of Persia to some extent, but right now all of these are just not bad for video game movies, and not necessarily good movies, which is an important distinction. And yet, Im hopeful for the future in at least a few upcoming instances. Duncan Jones of Moon and Source Code fame was given the keys to the Warcraft universe for a new film, and Michael Fassbender has thrown himself into an adaptation of Ubisofts Assassins Creed. But theres one film which has been optioned that Im still pretty excited about, despite the fact that we havent heard anything about the project in quite a while.

XBA Review - Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

Added: 03.11.2014 9:12 | 6 views | 0 comments

XBA: "You already know what you're getting when you buy a Call of Duty game. Explosive set-pieces, loud guns, perhaps a vehicle section or two, a stealthy follow mission and then a great big, balls-out crescendo at the end. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is no different in that regard, but it's the way in which it's delivered this time that makes it a little teresting than usual. And as Sledgehammer Games' first proper CoD outing, the developer's experience in creating Dead Space as former members of Visceral shines through in the game's rather excellent campaign."
